EL ETAT DE LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS EN EL DESARROLLO SOSTENIBLE

The European Union must develop a transparent and comprehensible application of the
human rights clauses. The specific incorporation of the application of human rights clauses

in the EU Human Rights Report would be a good approach in this respect. Additionally, the

European Union should base their human rights clauses also on second generation economic

and social human rights. The EU should establish an economic impact-analysis in the light of
social welfare human rights, make these assessments open to the public and incorporate

them as an integral part in the negotiation and ratification of the agreements. Not only

would these actions increase the transparency and credibility of EU trade and human rights
policies, but they could also contribute significantly to sustainable improvement of the social

and economic situation in developing countries.
