Interestingly, Discovery strategies are the most used by students and the least popular strategies
were Memory and Metacognitive strategies. In short, the majority of the group preferred Discovery
strategies. The findings showed that students with the highest and the lowest scores frequently use
the same strategies, but the highest scorers have a wider repertoire of strategies than the lowest
ones.
Conclusion
If teachers could provide training and sufficient opportunities to practice the vocabulary learning stra-
tegies, students would be able to increase their vocabulary knowledge and become more autono-
mous learners and in the future excellent English teachers. Vocabulary Learning Strategies are great
tools for both students and English teachers. Knowing how to use strategies appropriately is more
crucial to students. Therefore, language instructors should pay attention what kinds of strategies are
needed by students.
