This chapter offers a quantitative analysis of physical activity by conducting a didactic se-
quence of physical education as an area of personal and social development in students in
Y LA PRÁCTICA care and 2) attention to the body and health, which conform to those proposed in the current
sixth grade of primary school, for which two contents have been associated: 1) environmental
program established by the Ministry of Public Education. During the physical education class,
the system for observing fitness and instruction time (SOFIT) was used to assess the intensity
of physical activity. This methodology - used in different studies with Mexican schoolchildren -

for 20 seconds each. The physical education session resulted in a moderate to vigorous phys-
ical activity intensity exceeding 50% of the duration of the session, intensity that matches the
standards suggested by organizations such as the United States National Association for Sport
and Physical Education (NASPE) and what is recommended by the World Health Organization
(WHO). As a future line of research, it would be important to analyze elements such as those
studied in this work, but during the school day of recess or during free time.

INtrODuccIóN
Los diecisiete objetivos de desarrollo sostenible (ODS) fueron establecidos en 2015 por la
Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) para luchar contra la pobreza extrema en sus
diversas dimensiones; dichos objetivos son: 1) pobreza; 2) hambre cero; 3) salud bienestar; 4)
educación; 5) igualdad de género; 6) agua; 7) energía asequible y no contaminante; 8) trabajo
decente; 9) industria, innovación e infraestructura; 10) reducción de las desigualdades; 11) ciu-
dades y comunidades sostenibles; 12) consumo responsable; 13) acción por el clima (cambio
climático); 14) vida marina; 15) ecosistemas terrestres; 16) paz, justicia e instituciones sólidas;
17) alianzas.
