This dialogue does not, however, intend to confine indigenous peoples to their traditional
ways of life. On the contrary, it allows the populations to make a free choice in their
collective decisions and to establish a dialogue based on respect for their autonomy, to value
their ancestral traditions and knowledge. True intercultural dialogue, learning in both
directions is needed to be established between peoples and between cultures.
