1. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - TOWARDS AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE
CONCEPT
Sustainable development has been understood as a principle of long-term global
development. To this end, sustainable development objectives have been set by the UN, so
that all States can meet their present needs and represent a bet for future generations.
Sustainable development is defined as "... satisfying ‘the needs of the present generation

without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’" .
In 2015, the UN issues sustainable development objectives, and according to the General
Assembly of the United Nations, sustainable development consists of 3 fundamental pillars:

economic development, social development and protection of the environment .
2. AN INTERNATIONAL PROGRESS - THE OBJECTIVES OF SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT:
In 2002, the Johannesburg declaration on sustainable development was approved. The
purpose was to build a global humanitarian society, fair and generous, in order to respect the
