EL ETAT DE LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS EN EL DESARROLLO SOSTENIBLE
In this regard, it is stated that "The peace process must be understood as a civic process that
is being built, modified and enriched by the dynamics of political discussion and the growing
200
participation of the State, its institutions, the private sector, armed actors and civil society” .
Transitional justice is, according to the United Nations Security Council, “the full range of
processes and mechanisms associated with the attempts of a society to solve the problems
arising from a past of large-scale abuses, in order that those responsible hold accounts of their
201
actions, serve justice and achieve reconciliation" .
According to the above, it is clear that Colombia is currently in a transition stage, which will
entail changes and transformations. Transitional justice is not a new issue, that rather than
theorizing about it, it is important to verify in practice the experience lived by other countries
that have gone through peace or post-conflict processes, in order to have precise indicators
and apply them in our country. Only in this way can results be produced and meet the
proposed goals, only in this way will stability and satisfaction be achieved for the rights of the
victims, only in this way can we learn from the experiences of the past, aim at reconciliation,
promote democracy, consolidate the internal judicial system and serve justice and peace and
therefore sustainable development; because –as indicated by Kofi Annan, former UN
secretary-general-: "The more people understand the costs of war and the benefits of peace,
the more support they can give to the process".
